At Bright Star Charitable Trust , we believe that each individual has a responsibility towards the environment and cleanliness of one’s surroundings.This thought has been an integral part of all our social initiatives and community engagement programmes. It received further encouragement when our Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi called for a nation-wide effort to keep our surroundings clean through the Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan.

Awareness for Cleanliness

The increasing menace of single use plastic is known to almost everyone. But very few of us make an attempt towards minimizing or, completely avoiding the use of such plastics. To create awareness about the ill-effects, and reduce the use of such plastics, awareness drives are conducted by volunteers of Bright Star Charitable Trust in local markets of Mumbai which are the starting point of the plastic life-cycle, post-production. Messages about the environmental hazard of plastic and the threat it poses to the ecosystem are communicated through Audio-visual means. It has been found that such AV clips are impact full in driving home the message and bringing about a change in mindset of the audience.

The reception for new ideas and initiatives is always high among school going children.Their inclusion in the programme was therefore imperative for its success. The school campaigns conducted by us in the different locations of Mumbai aimed at creating awareness on afforestation and ill-effects of plastic usage.Inspiring children to keep their surroundings clean is an active part of these campaigns and the school authorities already report a visible change.
